Ingredients
- 6 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange the sliced bananas evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter evenly over the bananas in the baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use brown butter in the topping. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave before serving. You can also add a sprinkle of chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the topping before baking for added texture and flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon to your liking.
