Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 1 pound ground turkey sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground turkey sausage over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spoon until fully cooked. Drain off any excess grease.
- Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs. Slowly pour the sausage gravy into the eggs, whisking constantly to temper the eggs and prevent them from cooking.
- Pour the sausage gravy and egg mixture into the prepared pie crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche is set and the crust is golden brown. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh chives, if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of low-fat milk. You can substitute the cheddar cheese with another cheese of your choice, such as Monterey Jack or Gruyere. Store leftover quiche in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
