Ingredients
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pre-made pizza dough (12-inch)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
- 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce (recipe below)
- Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
- For the Tzatziki Sauce:
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). While oven preheats, prepare the tzatziki sauce. In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground lamb and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess grease. Stir in oregano, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute.
- Stretch or roll out the pizza dough to a 12-inch circle. Place it on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza dough. Top with cooked ground lamb, sliced tomatoes, and red onion.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle generously with tzatziki sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the ground lamb mixture. You can also use store-bought tzatziki sauce to save time. Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or olives to customize your pizza. For a crispier crust, pre-bake the pizza dough for 5 minutes before adding the toppings.
