Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground chicken
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, onion, and your favorite burger toppings
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Press the center of each patty slightly to prevent them from bulging during cooking.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the chicken patties in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. You may need to cook them in batches.
- Cook the burgers for 6-8 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). The outside should be golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the burgers from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy ground chicken burgers on burger buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, and your preferred sauces.
Notes
For extra crispy burgers, you can coat the patties in additional panko breadcrumbs before cooking. If you don’t have Parmesan cheese, you can substitute it with Romano cheese or leave it out altogether. Store leftover cooked burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven until warmed through. Serve with a side of coleslaw or potato salad for a complete meal.
