Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, divided
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2-3 medium)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter. Stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the brown butter glaze. In a small saucepan, melt the remaining 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter over medium heat. Cook, swirling occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat.
- Stir in milk and powdered sugar until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
- Let the brownies cool slightly before drizzling the brown butter glaze over the top. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them. Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips. Walnuts or pecans can be added to the batter for added texture.
