Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk (110-115°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter, cooled slightly
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter, for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
- Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 10 minutes.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter immediately after removing from the oven.
- Serve warm and enjoy these Fluffy 1-Hour Dinner Rolls.
Notes
For extra soft rolls, brush with milk before baking. Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the baked rolls for up to 2 months; thaw completely before serving. For a richer flavor, use whole milk. If you don’t have active dry yeast, you can use instant yeast, but no proofing is needed. Add it directly with the other ingredients.
